President Museveni to Address Nation on Wealth Creation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to address the country this Saturday evening on numerous issues.

The President’s address was confirmed by his media team, the Presidential Press Unit (PPU), on Friday evening.

This is the President’s third national address in one month and will be centered around issues of wealth creation.

“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) is pleased to announce that the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. (Rtd.) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will address the Nation tomorrow, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 8 pm.” PPU stated.

In PPU’s communication, they also confirmed that the address will most likely stray from wealth creation to other issues of national importance.

Currently, the most vibrant conversation in the country is the fight against corruption. Following an exposé by digital activists on the extravagance at Parliament in February, the entire government has been rocked by a dark cloud of corruption scandals.

This conversation was echoed by the President during the State of the Nation Address in June. During the address, the President revealed that he had unearthed a racket of corruption pinning Parliamentary staff and officials at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. Following the President’s revelations, five MPs have been arrested on corruption-related charges.

These include Yusuf Mutembuli of Bunyole East and Paul Akamba of Busiki County. Others are Michael Mawanda of Igara East and Cissy Namujju, the Lwengo District Woman MP. Elgon County MP Ignatius Mudimi Wamakuyu is also facing similar charges.

The President’s address will be broadcast live on all major radio and television stations. Similarly, the PPU announced that the address will be streamed on digital platforms.

President Museveni strong on wealth creation

President Museveni has been vocal about spreading his gospel of wealth creation. He echoed it to Buganda Kingdom Clan leaders in a meeting at State House last month. He tasked the Bataka to preach this message throughout the kingdom as it will be Uganda’s magic bullet to development. Similarly, he has challenged Cabinet ministers and the NRM’s Central Executive Committee to spread his message.

Currently, the government is running the Parish Development Model and Emyooga programs to alleviate communities from poverty.
