President Museveni Pledges shs 200 Million To Buganda Clan Leaders SACCO

President Yoweri Museveni has promised to boost the Bataka SACCO with shs 200 million. The president made this promise during a meeting with the clan leaders at State House Entebbe.

President Museveni also tasked Buganda Kingdom clan leaders to spread a message of wealth creation to the kingdom. The delegation from the kingdom was led by the Minister of State for ICT, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo.

During the meeting, the president encouraged the leaders to get acquainted with the principles and programs of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

According to the president, this is the magic trick to fighting poverty in the kingdom. During the meeting, President Museveni encouraged the clan leaders to preach the National Resistance Movement (NRM) wealth creation message to the masses.

Previous Requests

The meeting was a follow-up to one the president had with the Bataka last year. In the previous meeting, the clan leaders requested President Museveni to buy land for them.

President Museveni has since gifted them land stretching 2.2 acres. However, this isn’t enough as the clan leaders put another request to the president.

During Wednesday’s meeting, the leaders expressed their need to construct two buildings on the 2.2-acre piece of land that was gifted to them by the President. According to the clan leaders, these buildings will house cultural resource centers.

They believe the resource centers, including a museum and a theater, will go a long way in boosting cultural tourism in the country.

It should be remembered that last week, Cambridge University returned historical artefacts taken from Uganda during the height of colonialism. Among the returned artefacts are an assortment from Buganda Kingdom. These include five human remains “balongo” that were picked from Wamala tombs.

President Museveni agreed to set up the buildings for them.

The president said the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade has the capacity to deliver such a project.
