Job Details:

Alight, on behalf of Every Shelter, is seeking a Project Assistant to be based in Kampala. The Shelter Depot model enhances shelter, WASH, and livelihood goals through entrepreneurial and market-participatory behaviors of refugees. This role supports the Head of Program and Operations (HPO) in strategic priorities and administrative tasks.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management and Administration:

  • Develop research-based idea briefs for project pilots.
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Engage stakeholders and manage project communication.
  • Analyze project data and prepare internal reports.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders and partners for project implementation.
  • Organize project meetings and document key decisions.

Resource Management:

  • Monitor budgets and track project progress.

Executive and Administrative Assistance:

  • Coordinate appointments, travel, and meetings for Every Shelter.
  • Maintain electronic and physical files.
  • Provide clerical support and manage petty cash.

Miscellaneous:

  • Review and design organizational systems and policies.
  • Support professional development and other teams within Every Shelter.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent in business administration or relevant field.
    • Three or more years of professional experience in an administrative support role.
    • Experience with start-ups, international organizations, or social enterprises is preferred.
    • Knowledge of the Ugandan refugee context is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong emotional intelligence and relationship-building capacity.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to lead and influence without direct management authority.

Alight, on behalf of Every Shelter, is looking for a Shelter Depot Social Innovation Assistant for Nakivale and Bidi Bidi. This role coordinates Every Shelter’s Adapt and Innovation activities within the refugee settlements, supporting the Shelter Depot program.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Coordinate and implement project pilots.
  • Develop and update implementation timetables and work plans.
  • Conduct assessments and report findings.
  • Assist in project data analysis and protection.

Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with Every Shelter leadership.
  • Engage with NGO partners and governing bodies in the settlement.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
    • Experience working with OPM, UNHCR, and other partners.
