Background
Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU), an established NGO since 2002, focuses on Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programmes across Uganda. As part of the Spotlight Initiative EU-UN Joint program with Gender for Development Uganda (G4DU), CDFU will implement the ‘Future Fit’ and ‘Make Happiness not Violence’ components in refugee settlement districts and Amudat district, respectively.
Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will manage and implement the project in the districts of Kyegegwa, Terego, Yumbe, and Amudat. Responsibilities include overseeing project design, implementation, and evaluation, developing communication materials, supervising staff, managing work plans and budgets, and providing regular reports.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and Oversee Interventions: Provide technical oversight for refugee and school-based interventions, focusing on social norm changes and educational outcomes, particularly for female learners.
- Social Mobilization: Conduct mobilization activities to promote positive social norms and prevent GBV, including community and school-based interventions.
- Develop Media Content: Create and manage multimedia content, including radio dramas and social media campaigns, on GBV, SRH, and child marriage.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with schools, communities, and various partners to promote gender equity and support project objectives.
- Project Management: Ensure the implementation of activities according to the work plan and budget, and oversee monitoring and evaluation.
- Report Writing: Prepare regular narrative and financial reports, and document success stories and lessons learned.
- Coordinate with District Officials: Liaise with local officials and organizations to support project activities.
- Represent CDFU: Attend meetings and represent CDFU in various forums.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Women and Gender Studies, Human Rights, Development Studies, Communication, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in gender and SRHR work, with demonstrated knowledge of working with districts, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
- Proven experience in team coordination, report writing, and knowledge of gender equality laws and policies.
- Familiarity with SASA! Methodology is advantageous.
