Background:
Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a prominent NGO established in 2002, specializing in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programs across Uganda. In partnership with the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative under the Gender for Development Uganda (G4DU), CDFU is rolling out two key components: ‘Future Fit’ and ‘Make Happiness not Violence’.
- Future Fit targets schools and communities in Kyegegwa (Kyaka II), Terego (Rhino Camp), and Yumbe (Bidibidi) to combat gender disparities in education.
- Make Happiness not Violence aims to address and eliminate gender-based violence in Amudat district by challenging negative social norms.
Position Summary:
CDFU is seeking dedicated Project Officers for various sites to manage, implement, and monitor project activities effectively. The Project Officers will ensure the smooth execution of programs, liaise with district officials, and collaborate with community and partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Project Implementation: Oversee the execution of project activities within the assigned district.
- Representation: Act as CDFU’s representative in district coordination meetings.
- Collaboration: Engage with district officials, refugee settlements, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate project activities.
- Coordination: Work with partners and support groups to establish collaborative relationships.
- Reporting: Compile and document project success stories and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
- Media Engagement: Participate in designing and monitoring mass media efforts such as radio talk shows and print materials.
- Knowledge Management: Ensure essential information is well-recorded and accessible to stakeholders.
- GBV Network Participation: Be an active member of the district GBV referral network.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or CDFU Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies, Human Rights, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in implementing gender, sexual reproductive health, or community development projects.
- Experience working in refugee settlements is advantageous.
- Valid motorcycle permit and experience riding motorcycles.
- Proven ability to work with government departments, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, presentation, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong skills in program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of gender equality laws and policies, and familiarity with SASA! Methodology will be an added advantage.
