How to Apply for Malaysian Government International (Masters & PhD) Scholarships 2024 for Ugandans

Overview:

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) 2024 is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract exceptional international students to pursue postgraduate studies (Masters and PhD) in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support Malaysia’s goal of becoming a global academic hub by fostering and retaining talented individuals from abroad.

Requirements:

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of the recipient countries of MIS 2024.
  • Intended Study: Must intend to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Master’s/PhD) in Malaysia, or currently be enrolled in such programs at Malaysian public universities or selected private institutions with at least two semesters remaining.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age:
    • Master’s applicants: Not more than 40 years old.
    • PhD applicants: Not more than 45 years old.
  2. Academic Qualifications:
    • Master’s applicants: Minimum CGPA of 3.00 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or higher at the bachelor’s degree level.
    • PhD applicants: Minimum CGPA of 3.00 / excellent results at the Master’s level in relevant courses.
  3. English Proficiency:
    • IELTS band 6.0 or higher.
    • TOEFL PBT score of 550 or higher.
    • Previous degree(s) with English as the medium of instruction.
  4. Research Proposal:
    • A written research proposal with at least 1,000 words relevant to the intended field of studies (for Master’s by Research and PhD applicants only).

Levels of Study:

  • Master’s degree (full-time)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree (full-time)

Areas of Study:

Priority is given to the following fields:

  • Education
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Social Sciences, Journalism, and Information
  • Business, Administration, and Law
  • Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics
  • Information and Communication Technologies
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction
  • Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Veterinary
  • Health and Welfare (excluding medicine, nursing, and pharmacy)

Benefits:

  • Tuition Fees: Covered for the entire sponsorship period, paid directly to the university.
  • Monthly Living Allowance: RM 1,500.00 per month, paid each semester upon submission of the scholar’s progress report to the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

Application Process:

  1. Prepare Documents:
    • Proof of nationality.
    • Academic transcripts and certificates.
    • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL scores).
    • Research proposal (for Master’s by Research and PhD).
  2. Online Application:
    • Visit the official MIS application portal (the specific URL will be provided by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education).
    • Fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
  3. Submit Application:
    • Ensure all information is accurate and complete.
    • Submit the application before the deadline on June 30, 2024.
