Vipers To Celebrate Inaugural Vipers Day on July 27

StarTimes Uganda Premier League giants Vipers SC have announced plans to celebrate their inaugural ‘Vipers Day’.

The development was announced by Club President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa on Tuesday afternoon. This year’s edition of Vipers Day is slated for Saturday, July 27, 2024.The event, confirmed by Dr. Mulindwa to be an annual occurrence, will be hosted at the club’s home, St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

While speaking to the press at the announcement, Dr. Mulindwa acknowledged the importance of such a celebration. He said Vipers Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders of the club to interact. Additionally, he noted that the networking would not only benefit Vipers but also Ugandan football.

In his speech, the educationist applauded the Vipers SC management for holding four successful editions of Vipers Fans Day.

“Every year, for the past four years (except during Covid), we have been organizing what we call Vipers Fans Day. The purpose of that day is to bring fans together and celebrate the achievements of our club. This function has helped us get numbers and has always been a great success.” Lawrence Mulindwa.

According to Dr. Mulindwa, the new development will attract all stakeholders, unlike the previous event that was restricted to fans. On the big day, the club is expected to carry out registration of new fans.

Vipers Day To Attract Droves of fans

While speaking to the press, Vipers CEO Simon Njuba hinted at the club currently having over 100,000 registered fans. Njuba hopes that the July 27th event can boost this number even more.

A number of activities, including friendly games, have been scheduled for the day. The curtain-raising game will have club legends take on fans. This will set the pace for a floodlights encounter between Vipers SC and a guest team. Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa fueled speculation on which guest team will be at Kitende when he confirmed that it’s one of Africa’s giants.

Additionally, fans will get a chance to have a glimpse of the entire technical staff and team squad for the 2024/25 season.To be a part of all this and more, fans are expected to pay a nominal fee of Shs 10,000.

After winning a double, the league and Uganda Cup in 2022/2023, Vipers had a lackluster 2023/2024 season that ended trophyless. This has prompted various stringent changes, including the appointment of Serbian Nikola Kavazovic as head coach.

Additionally, a host of players including Bright Anukani, Issa Mubiru, and Ashraf Mandela have been released. Similarly, their ranks have been bolstered by left-backs Derrick Ndahiro and Angolan forward Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo, alias Sukuya.
