Street beggar, Who was caught with gun, remanded to Luzira prison

Buganda road  Court has remanded Hamuza Farouk Kintu, a road beggar, to Luzira Jail on charges of being in control of a gun illegally.

Kintu aka  Tonny Anthony Mayambala Mugabi has been charged under the  the Court directed by Grade One Judge Sienna Owomugisha and accused of two counts in particular unlawful ownership of government stores and being in control of a gun illegally.

The Court has heard that during the period of April 2023 at Biina Upper Zone in Nakawa Locale in Kampala, Kintu was in control of an UPDF uniform, UPDF rain Coat , Uganda Police  boots (shoes) which the Prosecution accepts that they may be associated with having been taken or unlawfully got.

In any case, Kintu who was brought to court in a wheelchair has argued not not guilty to the charges against him, and in spite of the fact that he was informed that he has a privilege to apply for bail, he had no legal counselor in court neither family members nor companions to stand guarantee for him.

Prosecution led by State Lawyer Lydia Nakato has informed the court that inquiries are finished and requested to be given a hearing date.

Subsequently, Judge Owomugisha has remanded Kintu until May eighth 2023 for the following hearing about his case.
