Stop Sending MPs On Trips To Fight Censure Motion – MP Ssekikubo

Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo has accused the leadership of Parliament of sending MPs on trips with the intention of jeopardizing the process of his censure motion. Ssekikubo alleges that over 30 MPs have been sent on what he termed fictitious trips to Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

Please leave MPs alone, they are giving them trips that are going nowhere, trips to sleep in hotels and look through the windows.

Hon. Ssekikubo.

The Lwemiyaga County MP intends to achieve the removal of Esther Afoyochan (Zombo District Woman – NRM), Prossy Akampulira (Rubanda District Woman – NRM), Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central – NRM), and Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe – NUP) from their positions as members of the Parliamentary Commission with his censure motion. The four parliamentarians have been under scrutiny for reportedly allocating taxpayers’ money of up to Shs 1.7 billion on top of a monthly salary of Shs 23 million without approval from Parliament.

In this arrangement, the three NRM legislators took home Shs 400 million, with the former Leader of Opposition banking Shs 500 million in a one-off personal service award. Mpuuga’s party, National Unity Platform, has since taken drastic measures, including firing him from his position as Deputy President for the Buganda region.

The outspoken legislator made the remarks during a press briefing at Parliament to announce the extension of the collection of signatures to 4th June 2024. To Ssekikubo, this extension serves to enable MPs that traveled upcountry during recess to return to Kampala and take part in the process.

Cissy Namujju (Lwengo DWR) is leading a group of 30 MPs to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to keep them away. As we speak now, a group of MPs is in Nairobi to be kept away so that they don’t come to the limelight here. 30 MPs are flying out this evening; it is a tactic meant to keep them away

Ssekikubo Theodore.
