Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA) have completed the signing of mercurial midfielder Steven Munguchi. Munguchi joins the Kasasiro boys from the Jinja city-based Gadaffi Football Club.
In the Monday morning announcement of the completion of the transfer, KCCA confirmed that Munguchi put ink to paper on a three-year contract. Much as the particulars of the contract are scanty, Uganda Exclusive can confirm that Munguchi’s bumper contract will run out at the end of the 2026–27 season.
While speaking to his new club’s press team, Munguchi expressed his happiness to join the Lugogo-based club. According to Munguchi, there’s no way he would turn down the opportunity to join a club with a very rich history like KCCA.
Munguchi also acknowledged that the demands at the Kasasiro Boys were surely bigger than at his previous clubs. However, he pledged to live up to them as he is an individual who rises up to challenges.
“The club has a plan and proper systems as I was able to tell through the interactions I have had with the manager. I have some friends at the club and I am certain they will help me to fit in. I can not wait to get started.” – Steven Munguchi.
Steven Munguchi Profile.
Born on 24th June 1995, the 29-year-old has been around the football scene for quite some time. Prior to joining Gadaffi, Munguchi had a steady growth in Ugandan football that saw him start out at Kick It Soccer Academy in Wakiso District.
From Kick It, he became a journeyman with stints at Kakiri TC and a very explosive Bright Stars. Munguchi also collected his cheque from the tax collectors URA FC for a couple of seasons.
However, his two goals and 4 assists were not enough to save Gadaffi Football Club from the jaws of relegation last season.
Munguchi becomes KCCA’s second signing of this transfer window as coach Abdallah Mubiru looks to return the club back to the peak of Ugandan football. He joins Shafik Kwikiriza on a journey from Jinja to Lugogo with Shafik leaving last season’s title contenders BUL FC.
He becomes KCCA’s second official signing so far after the Kasasiro Boys also lured Shafik Kwikiriza to Lugogo from BUL. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa also extended his contract with the club.
