President Museveni tasked Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to respond to reports linking her to owning a house in the United Kingdom.
Through a letter dated May 23, the president communicated his directive to the speaker stressing that the British government confirmed her ownership of Flat 4, Silk House, 7 Waterden Road, London, E20 3AL, United Kingdom.
“Do you(Speaker Among) own that house or are you renting it?”

Background
Over the past couple of months, the media has been awash by reports of Speaker Anita Among owning properties overseas. This was fueled by her sanctioning of the UK government alongside two former ministers for corruption related to benefitting directly or indirectly to relief items or proceeds thereof meant for vulnerable Karamojong. The Speaker has since vehemently denied all these allegations that she referred to as a price she was paying because Parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Act.
Following these sanctions, the speaker was chest-thumping about how the only visa she needs is one to her home district of Bukedea. She said she did not even own a pussycat in the UK.
Why would a Ugandan leader build or buy houses in UK or anywhere else abroad, when Uganda, the still under-developed country where she would have earned the money, still needs those investments? t would definitely be a moral and ideological mistake

Speaker’s Full Response
While I had chosen not to respond to the malicious content and schemes directed at me by various actors, I wish to comment on the issue of my alleged ownership of properties in the UK, now under diplomatic engagement.
I am glad His Excellency the President of Uganda is seeking the truth through formal diplomatic channels.
According to the principle of natural justice, the one who alleges must prove. If the UK government claims I own property, they should state which property I own as Anita Annet Among. Their own records should reflect this.
The alleged property, Flat 4, Silk House, 7 Waterden Road, London, E20 3AL, United Kingdom, does have a registered owner who is not Anita Among, according to their own records.
Fellow Ugandans, while this matter may excite some due to internal political intrigue, the issue is not alleged corruption or ownership in the UK. The attempts to forge and claim I own property when their records show otherwise reveal the true intent.
The real issue is targeting Anita Among for being vocal against homosexuality. The rest is a cover-up.
