Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is seeking two qualified Psychosocial Workers to join their team in Nakivale, Uganda. This role is crucial in providing mental health and psychosocial support to vulnerable populations, with a focus on individuals with disabilities and other vulnerabilities.

Job Details

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibility 1: Provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Care

  • Identify beneficiaries’ psychosocial needs through outreach.
  • Identify protection risks and refer cases needing specialized care.
  • Follow up on beneficiaries and document progress.
  • Conduct community awareness sessions on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) topics.
  • Organize and facilitate informal support sessions and social activities promoting recovery.

Responsibility 2: Support Group Sessions

  • Identify beneficiaries who could benefit from group support sessions.
  • Organize and conduct psychosocial group activities.
  • Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to deliver structured support sessions.
  • Encourage peer participation in group sessions.

Responsibility 3: Data Reporting and Activity Organization

  • Report data on activities and follow-up on cases using provided tools.
  • Organize daily and weekly activities with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide necessary reports.

Responsibility 4: Analysis and Reporting

  • Contribute to the analysis of psychosocial issues within the refugee population.
  • Participate in monthly reporting and case study production.

Responsibility 5: Emergency Preparedness and Response

  • Contribute to emergency preparedness actions and adapt work modalities during emergencies.

Responsibility 6: Adherence to HI Values and Policies

  • Understand and apply HI’s code of conduct, ethics, policies, and security rules.
  • Ensure team members are aware of and adhere to these principles.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of practical experience in mental health and psychosocial support.
  • Minimum of 3 years working with vulnerable groups, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Experience facilitating group sessions and developing psychosocial intervention plans.
  • Knowledge of user-centered approaches and community-based rehabilitation.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Familiarity with referral mechanisms and pathways.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of languages spoken by refugees is an advantage.
