President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has condemned the assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump.
While speaking to voters at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, Donald Trump was shot at.
In a heartfelt post on his account on X, President Museveni conveyed his sympathies to Donald Trump. Additionally, he expressed his solidarity with all Americans.
“I learnt of the assassination attempt on His Excellency Donald Trump’s life on Saturday, July 13, 2024. This was during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. On behalf of the Government and people of Uganda, and on my own behalf, I wish to convey our deep and heartfelt sympathies to His Excellency.” President Museveni said.
Museveni says Donald Trump shooter was a coward
In a strong voice, the president condemned the act, calling it despicable. Similarly, President Museveni believes it was a cowardly attack attempt that put innocent civilians at risk.
The rally, attended by thousands of Trump supporters, was disrupted when shots were fired from the crowd. As the shots were fired, Donald Trump ducked under the podium as the secret service created a human shield around him. Despite ducking, Ugandan Exclusive can confirm that the business mogul was struck in his ear.
Unfortunately, the incident resulted in multiple injuries and the tragic death of one attendee. The shooter, who was later identified as Thomas Mathew Crooks, was also shot dead. By press time, investigations into the motives behind the attack were ongoing.
President Museveni’s message also extended condolences to the bereaved family. The former Bush war fighter also expressed his disdain for political violence.
“As freedom fighters and peace-lovers, we condemn political violence. This is because it threatens democracy wherever it manifests. I also extend my deepest condolences to the family that lost their loved one. I wish His Excellency and all those injured a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.” President Museveni.
