The Territorial police in Gayaza conducted a joint operation on armed thugs after receiving a hint from a tram of officers who carred out surveillance in Gayaza ward kasangati Town council, wakiso District
During the operation, 5 suspects we’re arrested and these are said to be part of the gang that has been robbing schools and killing security guards in the district.
These suspects were identified as Kawoya Charles (male juvenile, 17), Sekubuge Akiram (male adult, 23), Mwesigwa Enock (male adult, 32), Sagara Denis (male adult, 27), and Mwanja Ivan (male adult, 31). Nekesa Rachael, the female adult (29) and wife of Richard Mwesigwe, the suspected commander, is still at large
Further more eight sharpened pangas, six pit axes, five spanners, two Bajaj motorcycles and a box of nails we’re recovered said the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson Luke oweyesigyire
It was discovered that the criminals had planned to attack the Namugongo areas
The suspects are currently detained at Kasangati police station on charges of Murder and aggravated robbery as investigations into the matter surpass.
