Police Arrests Makerere University NUP Guild Aspirants Over Claims of Unathourised Gatherings

Police have arrested National Unity Platform (NUP)’s Margaret Nattabi and Sulaiman Namwoza, who were recently disqualified from the Makerere University 89th Guild race. They were arrested alongside other students as they addressed journalists at Emerald Hotel in Kampala.

A sum of 7 students were captured yesterday  with media staff at Emerald hotel in Wandegeya, following heavy deployment at the at first venue  – the Guild canteen

National unity platform (NUP) leaning Margaret Nattabi and Sulaiman Namwoza who were disqualified from the Guild race last week, alongside a few different students were taken away by police as they attempted to air out the complaints related with the election process.

The pair censured the unjustified removal from the 89th Guild race at Makerere University as well as requested revocation of suspension letters that were given to two students blamed for unlawful  meetings.

As indicated by Kampala Metropolitan Police representative Patrick Onyango, the captured students were currently being held at Wandegeya Police headquarters on charges of  making unorganized gathering.

The captures have brought reaction across media platforms as numerous netizens got down on Makerere University Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe for the manner in which he runs the institution.
