Police in Wakiso have arrested Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the main suspect in the murder of former Ndiga clan leader Engineer Daniel Bbosa.

“We confirm the arrest of Lujja Bbosa Tabula. He was apprehended on August 19 in Kimelika-Namulonge, Busikuma, by our crime intelligence squad.” said Police spokesperson Rusoke Kitumma.

Engineer Bbosa was shot on February 25 in Kikandwa Lungujja, Rubaga Division, as he retired to his residence. The shooting was witnessed by Abdul Katabaazi, a plumber and boda boda operator in Kikandwa Zone.

Alongside fellow boda boda riders, they pursued and captured the assailants. However, the prime suspect Tabula evaded arrest, prompting the Police to put up a Shs10 million bounty for his capture. This was later doubled to Shs20 million as Police linked Tabula to other crimes.

Tabula has other cases to answer

In the Police release, it was confirmed that human skulls were discovered at Tabula’s Mpigi residence.Tabula is expected to face multiple charges, including murder and involvement in illegal activities related to the human remains found at his residence.

Five people have already been charged and remanded in connection with the murder. They include Noah Lujja, 21, a mason; Milly Naluwenda, a secretary to a traditional court; Harriet Nakiguli; Joseph Nakabale, a painter; and Ezra Mayanja.

In 2017, Tabula filed a case with the Buganda traditional court ‘Kooti ya Kisekwa,’ accusing Bbosa and Steven Ssekoba Sserunkuuma of conniving to wrongfully hold the office and disrupt the clan leadership by installing a head in a way contrary to Buganda culture. In his case before the Kooti ya Kisekwa, Tabula argued that the leadership of the clan was supposed to be in the hands of the descendants of Kamya Tabula, a son of the first clan head.

In August 2022, the Kooti ya Kisekwa nullified the leadership of Bbosa after Luggya presented evidence proving that Bbosa was not the rightful holder of the position.
