President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has advised the people of Nebbi district against playing politics of biology.
The President gave his advice while speaking at the Thanksgiving Ceremony for State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals) in Nebbi. The event was organized to celebrate the youthful MPs’ rise within the corridors of power.
“Politics is not about biology; it’s about ideology. Jesus was young when he preached about loving your neighbor. Similarly, young people should focus on having the right ideas.” Museveni said.
Museveni also commended Nyamutoro for focusing on service delivery for her people. He was particularly excited about Nyamutoro’s focus on education, health, and entrepreneurship. The President used the opportunity to castigate other politicians who only wait for government intervention. Similarly, he encouraged the youths to participate in government programs meant to alleviate them from poverty.
“I am happy with Nyamutoro’s dedication and deep sense of patriotism. Nyamutoro was a young girl who had just finished university or was still studying. While others were idle, she actively campaigned for our NRM candidate. Her commitment and qualities stood out.” President Museveni said.
He also warned the youths in Nebbi against being misled by distractions and to commit to the NRM. According to Kaguta, there is space for ideological growth in the NRM. He emphasized NRM’s commitment and devotion that he says has thrived for 60 years.
On the same weekend, the West Nile residents celebrated a major milestone as they were finally connected to the national electricity grid. The West Nile sub-region previously relied on a power grid operated by the West Nile Rural Electrification Company Limited, which has been unreliable. The new transmission line is expected to significantly enhance socio-economic development in the region.
“The argument by some people who say that we had forgotten West Nile was wrong. They were not serious; they were disruptive, actually,” Museveni said.
