Apparently around seventeen individuals have been taken to medical facilities after a building fell on sports enthusiasts watching the English premier league match between West Ham and Arsenal at Loi Lung Café in Kansanga close to the Kampala international University (KIU).
Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police Representative Luke Owoyesigyire says after being made aware of the breakdown, police, fire and rescue service alongside individuals from the Kampala City council Authority and a detectives arrived at the scene. The region was surrounded off and an investigation was started.
Rescue team kept searchinh through the debrises looking for some survivors.
“The examination has revealed that the structure had an expansion of a story building with two stories. The casualties were all South Sudanese and the restaurant was likewise for South Sudanese,” said Owoyesigire.
He expressed one of the casualties kicked the bucket on landing in Mulago hospital while four others are getting medical treatment.
Police are researching the reason for the breakdown.
