Land Evicted Masindi district residents ask for president Musevens’s intervention

More than 80 families living in Kinumu town, Masindi region have requested President Museveni over  fighting the expulsion of 3000 occupants from the 8 square miles which is essential for 25 square miles of land as of now involved by Kiryandongo Sugar for sugarcane ranch.
Occupants believe the president should intercede and find an answer for the land debate among investors  and the inhabitants.
Mr Costantine Rwanyindo the head of the occupants to be removed says their plants are being evacuated to clear way for the sugarcane ranch.

As indicated by Mr Rwanyindo, Kiryandongo Sugar company had compensated  8 square miles to the inhabitants for farming yet a similar company is destroying their harvests and expelling them from the given land.
“We had been given 8 square miles for us to farm, yet incredibly, they are advising us to abandon the land and prepare for the sugarcane plantation,” Mr Rwanyindo said.
Mr Deo Byarugaba, one of the inhabitants, chose to appeal to the president after neglection from the  local authorities.
“We informed all area authorities however we didn’t get any assistance, our domesticated animals is being taken by individuals protecting the land and when we talk they capture us, just the president can save us now,” Mr Byarugaba said.
Mrs Gaudencia Kamayanja, another victim has been requested to move out of her garden two times and cautioned to be captured assuming she is seen there again
The  23 square miles of land previously were for  Bunyoro farmers who later offered it to Lochab agricultural company before Kiryandongo Sugar took it over for sugarcane plantation.
The inhabitants have now requested  President Museveni  to stop the activities from Kiryandongo Sugar and request them to compensate every one of the occupants on the land before eviction.
“We are right now living under the fear of eviction and lost morale to cultivate on the grounds that we are nearly being chased and no compensation has been arranged as far as we’re concerned,” Mr Kaira Robert, another victim , says.
Nevertheless, Mr Johny Masagazi the PRO at Kiryandongo Sugar says the company has not yet gotten wriiten documentation of the cases from the occupants.
“Am hearing those cases in the media, yet we have not been told, when I get the companies side on how we will manage those occupants, I will tell them in a clear way,” Mr Masagazi said
