Bobi Wine Warns Police: “We Won’t Be Provoked into Violence”

National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine, has condemned the Uganda Police Force for trying to provoke them into violence.

Kyagulanyi expressed his disappointment in the police while appearing on NTV on Tuesday morning. The one-time presidential candidate was reacting to occurrences in Bundibugyo district yesterday.

On Monday, the NUP took their countrywide tour to the western district of Bundibugyo. However, all didn’t go to plan as they were blocked from addressing the residents at Boma Grounds. Instead, police directed them to a venue thirty miles from the town, which the NUP turned down. Kyagulanyi, who was flanked by Leader of Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi was only allowed to address residents at their new party office.

According to Kyagulanyi, all these actions by the police are meant to provoke his comrades into violence. Additionally, he expressed his disappointment in how the National police had been reduced to playing politics. However, Kyagulanyi confirmed that the NUP won’t be provoked. He noted that they shall maintain their decency as the police expose themselves.

“We always agree about everything with the police. We notify all security leaders in the areas. But on the D-day, the officers on the ground frustrate us on orders from above.” said Robert Ssentamu.

After being blocked from accessing Boma grounds, police directed them to a place 30 miles from Bundibugyo town.

“Regime fears us talking to the population because our message exposes their bad governance. They are trying to paint a violent image on us, which is shameful.” said Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

He also wondered why other political actors are allowed to go on peacefully while the NUP is hounded.

Kyagulanyi doubts President Museveni’s corruption fight

Additionally, he also laughed at President Museveni recently publicized war on corruption. Kyagulanyi believes the president doesn’t have the spine to fight corruption as it keeps him in power.

“President Museveni has no moral authority to talk about corruption. It is Museveni’s way of life. It’s his bloodline.” Robert K Ssentamu.
