This comes to attention as Mr Amos Lugoloobi, who serves as the state minister for finance , was captured over the blunder of iron sheets implied for the Karachunas youth group in Karamoja sub-area. He was purportedly en route to the air port.
Apparently the leaders in Kayunga district yesterday drove a demonstration requesting the release of the Ntenjeru North MP, who was captured on Friday.
Mr Lugoloobi is being held at Kiira Street Police headquarters.
The Demonstrators, who were led by Mr Andrew Muwonge, the Kayunga district chairman, promised to continue to Kampala if he isn’t released today.
During the gathering, which was attended by around of 100 leaders and natives at the pastor’s home in Namulanda in Kayunga Sub-region, Mr Muwonge said they would storm Kampala City tomorrow on the off chance that their minister isn’t released.
“We will close the District office premises until the MP is released. I have been getting scary calls requesting that I forsake this matter however I’m ready to be captured and join Lugoloobi in police cells,” Mr Muwonge vowed.
Mr Saleh Bulinsoni, the Kayunga District Speaker, said they can’t leave their MP, who he portrayed as a resource for the district.
He expressed a portion of the ventures the MP lobbied ie Kayunga regional referral hospital, tarmacking of the Kayunga-Busaana road and electricity extension, among others.
“We will storm the city (Kampala) to make an petition the President Museveni that we are not contented with the detainment of our minister. We will walk calmly and trouble will come when one intervenes us,” he added.
Mr Moses Karangwa, the region NRM chairman, who went to the gathering, called for quietness and asked the inhabitants not to abandon the NRM party.
A portion of the occupants promised to burn NRM shirts if President Museveni doesn’t intervene with regards to this issue.
He said he would battle to guarantee that the minister is delivered on bail when he shows up in court.
They later walked towards Kayunga Town conveying placards with articulations, for example, “Delivery our MP Lugoloobi” while others conveyed the ministers campaign banners.
The Kayunga district police commander (DPC), Ms Rosette Sikahwa, , said the Demonstration was unlawful and prevented the Demonstrators from entering Kayunga Town.
Mr Lugoloobi, who said he got 600 pieces of the G28 iron sheets from the office of the prime minister , utilized some to roof his goats’ shed in Misanga Town, Kayunga district.
He later eliminated the ironsheets after the news about their misuse broke, depicting them as evil.
