Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Senior Project Officer and Area Coordinator, the Project Assistant will plan and implement Seasonal Food distribution and monitoring activities of the FSL Project, ensuring quality service delivery and the successful accomplishment of all activities and set targets.

Responsibilities

  • Project Implementation: Plan, direct, and manage the project; organize and facilitate meetings with stakeholders; establish PMC’s in each location; conduct training and capacity building of project staff; provide technical support to the team in the field.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments, monitoring, and evaluation activities; support the team in training farmers and maintaining an agricultural technique demonstration farm; undertake needs and capacity assessments.
  • Community Engagement: Carry out community sensitization and mobilization; develop mobilization messages; participate in distribution events; maintain good working relations with communities and staff.
  • Reporting: Prepare project activity reports; support the Project Manager in internal reporting; ensure accurate and timely reporting of activity progress and food distributed.
  • Documentation: Ensure proper filing and scanning of waybills, delivery notes, and other documents.
  • Accountability: Maintain good relationships with communities and beneficiaries; ensure they are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED’s program objectives and activities.
  • Partnerships: Maintain relationships with other partners; promote good cooperation and work ethics with other partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in humanitarian settings; experience in Food Security and Livelihood is advantageous
  • Experience in partnership building and coordination with donors, private sector, NGO, and local community organizations
  • Ability to balance competing priorities on tight deadlines
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong analytical, managerial, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive collaboration and facilitation skills; leadership of large and diverse teams; diplomacy
  • Good reporting skills
  • Ability to operate in cross-cultural environments requiring flexibility
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
