Job Summary

JSI/WE is seeking an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Technical Lead for the anticipated USAID’s Targeting the Learning Crisis (TLC) Activity in Uganda. The goal is to create sustained, measurable improvements in development outcomes in Basic Education through Targeted Instruction (TI) for foundational skills. This role focuses on the ECE component, ensuring quality delivery and smooth transitions from pre-primary to primary education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight: Lead and manage the ECE interventions of the TLC program.
  • Collaboration: Work with government stakeholders and partners to strengthen systems and policies.
  • Development: Identify challenges and opportunities to enhance access to high-quality ECE for marginalized groups.
  • Planning: Design and review activities targeting learners and teachers, ensuring they are age-appropriate and inclusive.
  • Evaluation: Support monitoring and evaluation processes, using data to improve the program.
  • Capacity Building: Enhance the ability of staff and stakeholders to integrate gender equity and social inclusion into program design and implementation.
  • Communication: Share lessons learned and best practices with staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, gender studies, youth development, social sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in community engagement, technical assistance, and program management. USAID experience preferred.
  • Skills: Experience with ECE programming for marginalized groups, understanding of barriers to pre-primary education in Uganda, and collaboration with the private sector.
  • Interpersonal: Strong relationship-building skills with staff, donors, and government stakeholders.
  • Communication: Proficient in English, both oral and written.
  • Nationality: Ugandan nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
