How PM Nabbanja’s Convoy Accident Happened

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja narrowly survived being involved in an accident on Friday evening.

This occurred as two vehicles in her convoy collided on her return from Lwengo District.

The Prime Minister was returning from sensitizing the Lwengo residents on Government programs.

She had addressed a rally at Kaboyo Primary School playground where she advocated for commercial farming.

According to Nabbanja, the magic trick to jumpstart Lwengo District out of poverty is farming.

“I urge all residents of Lwengo to consider farming not just as a way of life but as a robust economic activity that can transform livelihoods.” PM Robinah Nabbanja said.

After a rather fruitful day in the district, PM Nabbanja’s weekend started on a somber note. While her convoy snaked its way back to Kampala, two vehicles didn’t make it past Kalungu District.

How it happened

The accident occurred at Lwera swamp in Kalungu District.According to Southern Region Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, the two vehicles, Toyota Hilux reg. numbers UG 0861Z and UG 1052Z, were both part of the convoy. Ugandan Exclusive can confirm that both vehicles are part of the Prime Minister’s entourage.

According to Police, trouble started when the driver of Hilux UG 0861Z attempted to overtake a truck carrying matooke. However, the driver aborted the mission when he noticed an oncoming vehicle from the Kampala side.

With the overtaking attempt aborted, he attempted to return to his lane to give way to the oncoming vehicle. However, this didn’t go as planned as vehicle UG 1052Z hit the Hilux from behind. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

By Saturday morning, Police had the matter under control and confirmed that one person sustained serious injuries. The victim, a woman, is currently being attended to at Nkozi Hospital in Mpigi District.

Additionally, the two vehicles had been towed to Police in Lukaya Town Council, allowing for normal traffic flow. The Prime Minister was not affected and continued her journey to Kampala.
