Gen. Muhoozi Demands $100 Billion from U.S. for Somalia Mission

Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has tasked the United States of America to pay Uganda USD 100 million for the mission in Somalia.

Muhoozi, who also doubles as a Special Presidential Advisor, made his request via a post on his X account.

“The USA owes at least $100 billion for our work in Somalia. We did a lot better than the people in Ukraine. It seems their specialty is running from Russians. We are waiting for payment. 100 billion is the minimum I demand from the USA. And they will pay every penny! Fast and in a hurry! On top of that, they’ll invite me to visit the US Army…soon.” – Gen Muhoozi.

The General’s online attack on the US extended to him requesting the Joe Biden administration to apologize to Uganda. According to Muhoozi, the US owes Uganda an apology for removing the country from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

“The USA must apologize to Uganda for removing us from AGOA. We must immediately be reinstated. Then we will talk about compensation for all the soldiers we lost in Somalia. On their orders.” Muhoozi.

Muhoozi, who stressed that Uganda should be reinstated on AGOA, accused the US of not understanding Africa.

“What the West never understands about Africa is that our civilization is older and more sophisticated than theirs. Take, for example, the very small issue of homosexuals. Africa had them for ages, much longer than the West. We never killed them or oppressed them. For the USA, a country I love so much, to kick Uganda out of AGOA over this non-issue is a crime. All we want is to be respected!” Muhoozi said.

Just a month after President Museveni signed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill into law in May 2023, Uganda was removed from the AGOA program. The law includes life imprisonment and the death penalty for aggravated homosexuality. Revoking AGOA eligibility has impacted Uganda’s textile and agricultural sectors. These sectors benefited from duty-free access to the U.S. market.
