FUNDED: Apply for the Alfried Krupp Fellowships 2025/26

For the academic year 2025–2026, the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald is offering up to six Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships and eight Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships. Established in 2007 with the support of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Fellows Program enables scholars to focus on large-scale research projects without the distractions of administrative or instructional duties.

Fellowship Categories

  • Senior Fellowships: For distinguished scholars with a strong record in research and instruction.
  • Junior Fellowships: For young researchers holding a doctorate who demonstrate exceptional qualifications.

Fellowship Duration

  • One Academic Year: October 1 to September 30
  • One Semester: October 1 to March 31 or April 1 to September 30

Fellows are provided with free living and working space at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg.

Fellowship Topics

For the academic year 2025/26, the program will focus on the following interdisciplinary topics:

  • Interrelationships between animal, human, and environmental health.
  • Cultural, social, political, and economic change in the Baltic Sea region.
  • Anticipations.

Fellowship Expectations

  • Fellows are required to pursue and ideally complete a major research project during their tenure.
  • They are expected to make the Kolleg their home and center of their lives during their stay.
  • Fellows may also have the opportunity to teach courses at the University of Greifswald.
  • The application should demonstrate how the proposed project will contribute to the advancement of science and research at the University of Greifswald.

Program Benefits

  • Covered Costs: The fellowship covers free accommodation and workspaces. However, it does not cover additional insurance benefits, travel, or laboratory expenses.
  • Family Accommodation: The program provides support for fellows wishing to bring a spouse or children.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Senior Fellowships: Open to distinguished scholars with demonstrated success in the fields of research and instruction, especially in natural sciences.
  • Junior Fellowships: Open to young researchers with a completed doctorate, showcasing exceptional qualifications.
  • Applications from all disciplines are welcomed, with preference for those aligned with the University of Greifswald’s research priorities.
