Quality Plastics Uganda Limited is seeking an experienced Welder to carry out welding and fabrication work as required. The ideal candidate must be performance-driven, possess strong organizational and planning skills, and be proficient in problem-solving and motivating others. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Mukono.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize plasma, gas, or electric arc welding techniques for metallic and composite materials.
- Heat and dissolve metal parts to obtain molten substances for welding, ensuring standard conformity.
- Oversee installation of tank linings, valves, load pipes, and floors.
- Conduct x-ray, hydrostatic, and tolerance tests on welded parts.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Use power saws, chipping knives, and other tools for cutting and shaping metal workpieces.
- Repair structures by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling metal components.
- Maintain knowledge of local and international codes and legal requirements.
- Monitor equipment to prevent overheating or expansion.
- Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning with chemical solutions and brushes.
- Design patterns and models based on specifications in blueprints.
- Direct electrodes on metal workpieces to melt, bend, or straighten them.
- Mount and secure workpieces using cranes, hoists, or banding machines.
- Estimate materials and costs for construction.
- Apply protective or decorative coatings to finished products.
- Assist in performance reporting and suggest improvements.
Minimum Experience:
- 2+ years as a Welder, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum Education:
- Certificate in welding from a recognized vocational school.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Basic knowledge in English (verbal and written).
- Good knowledge of applicable standards, local rules, and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of PET plastic recycling materials.
Work Hours: 8 hours/day
Experience in Months: 24 months
Level of Education: High School

Quality Plastics Uganda Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to handle mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment. The goal is to ensure smooth plant operations and full functionality of the equipment. The ideal candidate must be performance-driven, possess strong organizational and planning skills, and be proficient in problem-solving and motivating others. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Mukono.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose malfunctioning machines and components using test equipment and hand tools.
- Resolve motor, pump, conveyor, and hydraulic problems.
- Inspect equipment to identify hazards, defects, and the need for repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Execute scheduled maintenance activities.
- Record all maintenance activities according to internal procedures.
- Update Foreman/Supervisor with helpful information to prevent future problems.
- Perform any other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years as a Mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing environment or with production machines.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Basic knowledge in English (verbal and written).
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of applicable standards, local rules, and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of PET plastic recycling materials.
Work Hours: 8 hours/day
Experience in Months: 60 months
Level of Education: Associate Degree
