Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Welder. The work schedule is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

  • Education: Completion of elementary school and vocational training or apprenticeship in welding.
  • Experience: One year of journeyman welding experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in welding tools and a valid driver’s license for a combination of vehicles.
  • Language: English level II (Limited knowledge).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform metal fabrication, welding repairs, maintenance, and installation of equipment and structures in government-owned or leased properties.

Required Documents:

  • Copy of Orders/Assignment Notification (or equivalent)
  • DD-214 – Member Copy 4, Letter from Veterans’ Affairs, or other supporting documentation (if applicable)
  • SF-50 (if applicable)
  • Proof of citizenship
  • Academic documents (primary school and vocational training)
  • Driver’s license (acquired a minimum of five years ago)

Qualifications and Evaluations:

  • Education: Completion of elementary (primary) school.
  • Experience: Two years of gardening experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in basic tasks, manual duties, and use of hand tools. Must hold a valid Ugandan driver’s license.
  • Language: English Level I (Limited).

Responsibilities:

  • Grounds maintenance and performing other semi-skilled domestic tasks.
