Overview

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is offering scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. The scholarships aim to support young African students who are economically disadvantaged but academically competent, enabling them to complete their studies in agriculture and related fields.

Participating Universities:

• Gulu University (Uganda)
• Egerton University (Kenya)

Eligible Programs:

Gulu University Undergraduate Programs:

1. BSc. Agriculture
2. BSc. Food Bioscience and Agribusiness
3. BSc. Biosystems Engineering
4. BSc. Agrienterpreneurship and Communication Management

Gulu University Masters Programs:

1. MSc. Food Security and Community Nutrition
2. MSc. Agri-Enterprises Development
3. MSc. Agronomy
4. MSc. Biosystems Engineering

Egerton University Undergraduate Programs:

1. BSc. Agricultural Education and Extension
2. BSc. Science in Agriculture

Egerton University Masters Programs:

1. MSc Agri Enterprise Development
2. MSc Environmental Studies

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Nationality:
   • Be a national of Kenya or Uganda for respective national scholarships.
   • Be a refugee residing in Uganda or Kenya for regional scholarships.
2. Background:
   • Come from economically disadvantaged, marginalized communities, or conflict/post-conflict areas.
3. Age:
   • Less than 25 years for undergraduate applicants.
   • Less than 30 years for masters applicants.
   • Refugees and persons with disabilities: Less than 29 years for undergraduate and less than 34 years for masters studies.
4. Academic Qualifications:
   • Completed secondary school and/or diploma within two years prior to application for a Bachelor’s degree.
   • Meet admission criteria for eligible programs at Egerton University or Gulu University.
   • For Gulu University: High School Certificate (HSC) or Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or equivalent.
   • For Egerton University: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
5. Interests and Qualities:
   • Demonstrate interest in agriculture, agribusiness, and entrepreneurship.
   • Exhibit leadership qualities and a commitment to community service.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship is a full-board comprehensive package covering:

• Entrepreneurship training
