The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, representing the Federal Republic of Germany, is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for the BACKUP Health program. This role is integral to the Global Programme Health System Strengthening, which supports partner countries through the Global Fund grant cycle to enhance health systems and improve the impact of Global Fund investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice and strategic support to partner institutions in Uganda.
  • Lead project implementation and management for BACKUP Health in Uganda.
  • Engage in high-level policy discussions and maintain partnerships with national and international stakeholders.
  • Monitor developments in global financing mechanisms and align BACKUP activities accordingly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including experience with public health initiatives in Uganda.

Job Title: Regional Advisor EU SAFE (Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems)

GIZ is also recruiting a Regional Advisor for the EU SAFE initiative, aimed at supporting sustainable agricultural practices and reducing deforestation linked to EU consumption. This position involves coordinating efforts to implement the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) across Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage cooperation with partners related to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
  • Identify outreach opportunities and engage with regional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate regional dialogues and manage project activities in line with GIZ procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Business Management, Economics, Agriculture, International Relations, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, with a focus on partnership management and project coordination.
  • Knowledge of EU Green Deal policies and experience with EU-funded projects is advantageous.
