Job Title: Regional Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and enforce guidelines for WASH and construction activities.
    • Implement and monitor water and construction projects in compliance with local and international standards.
    • Review and validate designs, drawings, and tender documents.
    • Support the analysis of tender documents and oversee structural project indicators.
    • Collaborate with District Engineers to ensure design compliance.
    • Document best practices and participate in structural engineering coordination meetings.
  • Design & Infrastructure:
    • Develop and update engineering designs for piped water and building projects.
    • Prepare detailed bills of quantities and specifications for projects.
    • Stay updated with market trends and national/global standards.
  • Technical Support:
    • Supervise and review WASH and construction works.
    • Support annual planning, budgeting, and contract management.
    • Participate in the Central Tender Committee (CTC) and manage dispute resolution.
  • Capacity Building:
    • Facilitate community training for operation and maintenance of infrastructure.
    • Mentor and coach emerging engineering professionals within WVU.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Establish contacts with donors and government entities for resource acquisition.
    • Collaborate with communication departments for branding and partnership meetings.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and review project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual updates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Postgraduate certificate in construction management or IWASH preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SDG 6 WASH indicators and Uganda’s WASH policies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and MS Office.
  • Registration with the Institute of Engineers of Uganda is an added advantage.

Job Title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

  • IT Network & Capacity Planning (15%):
    • Analyze network needs and develop strategies for compatibility and security.
    • Implement network and system patches as per policies.
  • Infrastructure Management (30%):
    • Deploy and maintain cloud and hardware components.
    • Lead disaster recovery and security measures.
    • Automate tasks and improve system reliability.
  • Cloud Systems Administration (25%):
    • Manage cloud services and user access.
    • Conduct risk assessments and improve system performance.
  • FCAPS Management (10%):
    • Monitor system activities and ensure performance meets business needs.
    • Provide performance reports and design testing efforts.
  • Customer Support (10%):
    • Resolve cloud service issues and offer training and documentation.
    • Provide responsive and effective support.
  • Vendor Management (5%):
    • Manage vendor relationships, monitor service levels, and evaluate solutions.
  • Research & Evaluation (5%):
    • Conduct research on upgrades and develop continuous improvement plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in network administration, including 2 years with advanced network/cloud experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, NAS/SAN systems, DNS, DHCP, O365, and security controls.
  • Experience with VMware and Microsoft Hypervisor.
  • Preferred certifications: CCNP, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
