Job Details:

The role of Project Officer-SBC Communications involves leading the implementation of the SRM project’s Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies. Key responsibilities include designing evidence-based SBCC strategies, developing and executing SBCC activities, training program stakeholders, and conducting qualitative surveys to measure effectiveness. The position requires close coordination with various departments and external partners, participation in technical working groups, and preparation of comprehensive reports. Additionally, the role includes addressing child protection, gender, and disability issues through capacity building and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Implementation:
    • Collaborate with SRM project pillars and departments to design operational research for robust evidence-based SBCC strategies.
    • Develop and execute SBCC strategies, activities, and communication content with various sectors.
    • Conduct SBCC capacity strengthening activities for project staff, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
    • Train key program stakeholders, including community structures, health workers, and leaders, to disseminate messages and engage communities.
    • Share knowledge and best practices in SBCC through various forums and platforms.
    • Conduct qualitative surveys to assess the effectiveness of messages.
    • Support public relations and advocacy for social behavior change communication.
  • Coordination and Engagements:
    • Lead and coordinate SBCC advocacy and information sharing.
    • Participate in coordination meetings and provide updates on project progress.
    • Plan, coordinate, and document meetings, workshops, and other activities focusing on social behavior change.
    • Support short-term consultants and experts in fulfilling their tasks.
  • Reporting, Risk, and Budget Management:
    • Prepare quality reports, including donor reports, quarterly and annual project reports.
    • Monitor and evaluate SBCC activities, ensuring quality training and timely task delivery.
    • Document and share significant change stories resulting from SBCC.
    • Organize review and learning forums for beneficiaries, local organizations, and government entities.
  • Child Protection, Gender, and Disability Mainstreaming:
    • Assess and address child protection, gender, and disability issues in the community.
    • Develop capacity-building plans for SBCC mentors and stakeholders.
    • Support advocacy for child protection, gender, and disability policy implementation.
    • Engage stakeholders in dialogue to implement existing laws.
    • Network and coordinate child protection programs and services.

As an Area Programme Coordinator, you will lead the design and implementation of high-quality technical programs across sectors like health, livelihoods, education, and child protection. Your role involves supporting advocacy efforts, mobilizing communities for sustainable development, and ensuring timely program information for decision-making. You will manage and motivate competent program teams, establish effective M&E systems, and strengthen operational systems for increased community impact. The role requires a university degree in a relevant field, five years of community development experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The position is field-based, requiring travel to remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Technical Programs: Design and implement effective technical programs and projects.
  • Engagement & Advocacy: Support evidence-based advocacy at local and national levels for sustainable development.
  • Sustainable Impact: Mobilize children and communities for sustainable development.
  • Urgency for Execution: Ensure timely and effective communication of program information.
  • Talent Management: Nurture and motivate competent program teams.
  • Learning & Application: Establish effective M&E and learning systems.
  • Systems Strengthening: Strengthen operational systems for increased community impact.
  • Sponsorship Operations: Manage sponsorship operations effectively at the AP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education: A minimum of a University Degree in Social Science, Agriculture, Development Studies, Education, or any relevant field. A Post Graduate Qualification in Project Planning and Management is an asset.
  • Experience: At least five years’ experience in community development in sectors such as health, livelihood, education, and child protection.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to establish and maintain collegial relations, excellent planning, coordination, reporting skills, and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Preferred Skills: Networking and advocacy skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience in capacity building.

Work Environment:
Field-based position requiring travel to remote locations.
