Summary:
PATH is a global nonprofit committed to health equity, with over 40 years of experience in forging multisector partnerships and developing innovative health solutions. In Uganda, PATH has been instrumental in scaling up the national family planning program, particularly focusing on DMPA-SC (Sayana Press) and Self-Injection in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other partners.

Position Summary:
PATH Uganda seeks a dynamic Program Officer to join our Family Planning team. This role will focus on strengthening the private sector’s capacity in drug shops and pharmacies across Kampala, Mpigi, Wakiso, and Mukono districts. The Program Officer will provide technical assistance to introduce and scale up family planning services, including DMPA-SC and potential expansion to contraceptive implants. This position requires close collaboration with government entities, district health teams, and private sector stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and sustainable market development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Ministry of Health and local governments to implement and scale up family planning activities in the private sector.
  • Conduct trainings on family planning methods, quality counseling, and supply chain management for drug shop and pharmacy operators.
  • Support district supervision visits and mentorship to enhance service quality in family planning provision.
  • Contribute to annual work plans and budgets in coordination with the PATH family planning team.
  • Implement strategies with commercial distributors to ensure availability of family planning commodities, particularly DMPA-SC, in drug shops and pharmacies.
  • Strengthen Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for family planning data collection and utilization.
  • Participate in policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement initiatives to promote private sector involvement in family planning.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Population Studies, or related field. Nursing or midwifery background preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing family planning programs, preferably in Uganda.
  • Familiarity with national and international family planning policies and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to conduct training sessions and provide mentorship in family planning service delivery.
  • Strong networking and partnership-building skills, particularly in engaging with private sector stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data management tools.

Position Summary:
The Program Assistant will assist in organizing trainings, managing procurement processes, maintaining partner databases, and supporting communication activities. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare training materials and assist in organizing events and meetings.
  • Manage petty cash and procurement requests, ensuring timely supply of project needs.
  • Populate and maintain partner databases, ensuring accurate and updated information.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks including scheduling, documentation, and logistics coordination.
  • Assist in communication-related activities and monthly reporting.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in program or project support roles, preferably in health-related programs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and task management tools.
