General Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, and Knowledge Management Specialist to join our Global Health Security Program. The incumbent will provide strategic leadership to the M&E section, support scientific writing, foster knowledge management, and contribute to project planning and reporting to funders. The ideal candidate will possess strong managerial skills and a demonstrated track record of success in M&E, scientific writing, and strategic planning within the context of global health security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust M&E frameworks.
  • Develop and implement data collection tools, systems, and processes.
  • Conduct regular data analysis and interpretation.
  • Integrate M&E considerations into project planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Liaise with funders and stakeholders to ensure alignment of M&E activities.

Knowledge Management:

  • Facilitate knowledge management initiatives.
  • Support scientific writing efforts.
  • Develop and maintain repositories of programmatic data and research findings.
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Leadership:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the M&E section.
  • Mentor and build the capacity of staff members.
  • Collaborate with program teams.
  • Represent the program in external forums.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in M&E and knowledge management.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing M&E frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency in scientific writing.
  • Experience in strategic planning and project management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

    General Summary: Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is a not-for-profit organization owned by Makerere University, dedicated to strengthening health systems in Africa with a focus on infectious diseases through research and capacity building. The Fleming Fund project supports government efforts in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance. We seek a data analyst with the following qualifications.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support data collection from surveillance sites, including Data Quality Assessments.
    • Standardize the use of WHONET at surveillance sites and coordinating offices.
    • Act as the point of contact for all data requests.
    • Perform routine backups and ensure data security.
    • Analyze and interpret data as required.
    • Support integration of sector data through DISIS for visualization.
    • Develop knowledge management products.

    Person Specification:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, IT, or a relevant field.
    • At least 3 years of progressive experience in data management and systems development.
    • Knowledge of current information technologies.
    • Experience in AMR and AMU/C data management.
    • Attention to detail regarding data accuracy.
    • Good communication and management skills.
    • Competence in electronic database packages and analytical tools.
