Job Summary
Mukwano Industries Uganda Ltd is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the physical characteristics of products on the production line, performing quality analyses, and maintaining laboratory records and equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the physical characteristics of products on the production line.
- Collect samples and perform basic quality analysis of products, semi-products, and raw materials.
- Prepare daily activity reports for submission to the Quality Control Officer.
- Liaise with Production Supervisors on quality-related matters.
- Update records of laboratory activities.
- Perform simple repairs and/or calibrations of equipment.
- Prepare reagents for laboratory tests as required.
- Maintain housekeeping of the work area and clean laboratory apparatus after tests.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety, and QMS guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Quality Control Officer.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Diploma in any Science-related discipline with a bias in Chemistry.
- One year of relevant experience in a similar field is required.
- Ability to work independently to complete assignments.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service orientation skills.
- Adherence to prescribed routines and practices.
- Capability to handle non-routine matters with minimal instructions.
- Decision-making skills are required.
Work Hours:
- 8 hours per day.
Experience:
- 12 months of relevant experience.
Level of Education:
- Associate Degree.

Job Summary
Mukwano Industries Uganda Ltd is seeking a skilled Lathe Machine Operator to produce components for molds and machinery. The role involves operating lathe machines, verifying dimensions, and ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate lathe machine to make various components for molds and machinery.
- Measure components and verify dimensions using appropriate tools.
- Familiarity with boring, drilling, threading, and tapping.
- Prepare tools for machining.
- Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting.
- Detect malfunctions and replace worn tools.
- Clean machines and clear metal chips from machines.
- Report faulty operations or defective materials to the supervisor.
- Operate lifting devices for materials and equipment.
- Maintain clean and orderly equipment and work area.
- Adhere to company safety and personnel policies.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a plastic manufacturing plant.
- Familiarity with general lathe machine operations and mechanical skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of machine tools and machining operations.
- Ability to operate conventional machine tools.
- Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers and micrometers).
- Physical strength, manual dexterity, and precise hand/eye coordination.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to lift and handle heavy components and work without constant supervision.
Work Hours:
- 8 hours per day.
Experience:
- 24 months of relevant experience.
Level of Education:
- Associate Degree.
