Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Human Resource Coordinator and in close collaboration with the Area Manager, the HR Assistant will ensure the efficient and effective management of the Human Resources of the field office. The HR Assistant will actively contribute to the implementation of HR policies and guidelines, reinforce HR processes, offer guidance and HR services to staff, and promote staff welfare within the framework of DCA policies, procedures, and Ugandan Labor Laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day HR operations in the field office.
- Support the recruitment process, including placing adverts, shortlisting, and interviewing.
- Coordinate staff onboarding activities.
- Update staff data in the HRIS and maintain staff files.
- Monitor probationary periods, contract end dates, leave balances, and EDR for all staff.
- Ensure compliance with HR guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain and update the field phone tree.
- Ensure all field staff have valid IDs, medical, and GPA insurance cover.
- Track and monitor training progress for all staff.
- Assist with grievances and disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with DCA code of conduct.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Organizational Psychology.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resource Management in the International NGO sector.
- Membership of the HRMA-Uganda is an advantage.
- Professional qualification in Human Resources Management is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Uganda Labor Laws.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.

Job Title: Agroecology & Resilience Design Specialist

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing high-level technical expertise and support to DCA and partner staff in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating agroecology principles and resilience design practices to enhance sustainable agricultural and food systems. The specialist will focus on integrating agroecological principles and resilience design into farming systems, promoting sustainable land management, and enhancing community resilience to environmental and economic shocks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement agroecology strategies and resilience-building frameworks.
- Conduct participatory assessments to identify community needs and vulnerabilities.
- Develop training materials and tools for agroecology and resilience design.
- Train staff and communities on agroecology principles and resilience design.
- Provide technical support and mentorship for effective implementation.
- Advise on sustainable agricultural practices.
- Oversee project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in all initiatives.
- Promote transparency and accountability to beneficiaries.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and networks on agroecology and resilience.
- Participate in advocacy on agroecology, climate change, and food systems transformation.
- Contribute to project design and proposal development.
- Produce timely project reports for donors and stakeholders.
- Work closely with stakeholders for effective coordination and institutional linkage.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change, or related field with at least 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of agroecological principles and resilience design practices.
- Proficiency in participatory approaches and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse communities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
