Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Propose and implement VPRS strategies, policies, and activities in Uganda.
  • Provide advice on victim participation and reparations.
  • Engage with victim groups and intermediaries.
  • Manage application forms for victim participation and reparations.
  • Coordinate with legal representatives and international agencies.
  • Maintain budgetary and administrative responsibilities.

Education:

  • Advanced University degree in social sciences (e.g., psychology, social work, international relations, law, political science).
  • A first-level university degree with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience (seven years with a first-level degree).
  • Experience in conflict situations or security-challenged environments is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of Northern Uganda context.
  • Ability to organize training programs and capacity-building activities.
  • Experience in victim rights, reparations, human rights, humanitarian aid, or development.
  • Knowledge of International Human Rights Law and the Rome Statute.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English is essential.
  • Knowledge of a relevant local language in Northern Uganda is an asset.

  • Support the design and implementation of outreach strategies.
  • Conduct outreach activities with victims and affected communities.
  • Compile information for strategic planning and evaluation.
  • Establish partnerships with NGOs, community leaders, and media.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support.

Education:

  • Diploma of secondary education.

Experience:

  • Minimum of six years of experience in outreach, public information, external relations, or related fields.
  • International experience is desirable.
  • An advanced or first-level university degree may substitute for two years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse tasks and propose solutions to problems.
  • Sensitivity and respect for diversity in a multicultural environment.

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English or French is required.
  • Working knowledge of the other language is an asset.
  • Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.
