Job Purpose: To support the implementation and maintenance of an effective and professional Client Relationship Strategy for the company that will, in turn, contribute to the acquisition and retention of premium-paying clients when interacting with intermediaries and facultative partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional understanding of the customer base to assist Britam in maintaining and improving current relationships.
- Regular meetings with intermediaries to ensure reconciliations are up to date and disputes are resolved.
- Enhance customer relations by regularly servicing intermediaries and handling any requests and complaints.
- Act as the key contact for selected customer relationships under CRM’s guidance.
- Facilitate weekly client meetings, broker meetings, facultative partner meetings, and financial advisor meetings to address priority issues like premium payment and claims recoveries, and plan future initiatives with the Client Relationship Manager.
- Initiate and develop activities to ensure timely responses to customers and intermediaries.
- Collect proformas by providing a debtors/proforma listing to the sales team and updating them on collections daily.
- Participate in focused status meetings with channel managers and customers daily.
- Ensure the proper refund of premiums and claim compensation to customers on time.
- Regular meetings with designated financial advisors to ensure their debtor/proforma balances are up to date and premiums are collected in time.
- Check, verify commissions, reinsurance payments, and claim recoveries to the intermediaries.
- Monthly reconciliation of the debtors’ listing totals to the GL balances.
- Work with the Accounts Assistant to ensure the accurate daily, weekly, and monthly proforma/debtors’ summary report to the Proforma committee.
- Work with the Accounts Assistant to ensure timely preparation of quarterly signed broker statements to IRA.
- Follow up on credits in the bank statements and ensure they are receipted and accurately allocated daily.
- Ensure proper filing and soft copy storage of all documents.
- Assist in other duties as needed and directed.

Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications Required:
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of the various insurance products and services offered by Britam.
- Best practices in customer service and client relationship management.
- Credit control and collection processes.
- Familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance standards in Uganda.
Experience:
- Several years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Proven track record in managing and nurturing client relationships.
- Experience in credit collection and managing accounts receivable.
- Experience in handling customer complaints and resolving conflicts efficiently.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in customer service, insurance, or credit management can be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) software and other related systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Position: Business Development Officer, Sales Broking

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Assistant Manager Broking, the Business Development Officer, Sales Broking, will support the development and growth of business relationships with brokers to drive business growth. This position requires a dynamic individual with a background in insurance and experience in sales and broker channel management. The successful candidate will support the channel strategy to expand the broker network, ensure effective communication, and achieve sales targets through collaborative efforts with brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage existing and potential clients and recommend new brokers to the company.
- Ensure accurate and competitive quotations are prepared and delivered promptly to brokers.
- Liaise with brokers to ensure they are serviced as per Britam’s service standards.
- Promptly respond to all customer inquiries.
- Ensure policy renewal notices are sent to brokers at least 90, 45, and 30 days before the renewal date.
- Ensure all documentation is submitted to brokers within a reasonable time.
- Examine policy documents to ensure they capture brokers/underwriters’ needs before dispatching.
- Keep in touch with brokers by sending statements monthly.
- Ensure premium remittance and reconciliation for brokers’ generated businesses.
- Ensure that commissions are paid to brokers on agreed dates.
- Regularly visit brokers to enhance customer service and retain existing customers.
- Assist in developing products and tailor-made solutions in line with broker requirements.
- Gather marketing intelligence statistics to facilitate strategy development.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on production.
- Assist in coordinating claim notification and settlement communication with brokers.
- Undertake initial underwriting of business to ensure sound risk acceptance.
- Handle broker complaints and refer to the supervisor when necessary.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications Required:
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of various insurance products.

- Familiarity with insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements in Uganda.
- Understanding of financial principles, including budgeting and forecasting.
Experience:
- Proven track record in sales, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Experience in identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities.
- Experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working collaboratively within a team and across departments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper or First Class) in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ACII, CII) can be an added advantage.
- Certifications in sales, marketing, or insurance are desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
