Eleglance Finance Limited is a privately owned microfinance institution dedicated to delivering financial services tailored to individuals, groups, and SMEs who find it challenging to access mainstream bank services. Established in May 2012, we have expanded to several branches with headquarters in Entebbe.

Job Summary

The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the branch in line with Eleglance’s policies and procedures. This includes planning, coordinating, and managing business growth, supervising staff performance, and handling loan processing and problem resolution. The role involves managing the company’s interests and operational risks in delivering the loan portfolio.

Key Responsibility Areas

Performance Management

  • Train credit officers on credit policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance reviews of credit officers based on SMART objectives.
  • Manage performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Coach and mentor credit officers.
  • Encourage teamwork and share best practices.
  • Hold regular reporting and planning meetings.
  • Promote company values and set a personal example.
  • Evaluate and control performance of loans and take corrective action on delinquent accounts.
  • Support credit officers in debt collection.
  • Motivate and build capacity of branch staff for increased productivity.
  • Prepare loan operations updates and analyze reports.
  • Validate information regarding default payments, business activity, and other client/field visit issues.

Business Growth and Loan Recovery

  • Communicate credit policies and loan standards to credit officers.
  • Ensure compliance with loan processes and policies.
  • Recommend loan approvals and ensure timely processing.
  • Review pre-qualification reports and interview clients prior to loan release.
  • Review collection reports and ensure corrective actions on delinquent payments.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist in developing and implementing expansion and market penetration programs.
  • Promote bank products and services to potential clients.
  • Ensure clients receive quality services and foster long-term relationships.
  • Contribute to company profitability by implementing cost controls and income generation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the microfinance industry and market conditions.
  • Establish good customer service at the branch level.

Other Responsibilities

  • Compile and submit branch quarterly/monthly portfolio reports.
  • Prepare periodic work plans and budgets.
  • Maintain a healthy loan portfolio by following standard procedures.
  • Update loan management database.
  • Plan and coordinate branch activities in line with growth objectives.
  • Monitor daily banking activities and manage human resources at the branch.
  • Ensure effective implementation of internal controls.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports as per the reporting schedule.

Personal Specifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, economics, microfinance, development economics, or a relevant business-related course.
  • Postgraduate in credit management is an added advantage.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 2 years of working experience in credit administration, preferably in a managerial position.
  • Knowledgeable in computer applications, especially MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Must be able to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding license.
  • Familiarity with industry rules and regulations.
  • Leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Fluent in commonly used local languages.
  • Ethical behavior and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Good decision-making abilities.
