Job Summary:
As an Associate Relationship Manager at Absa Bank, you will be an integral part of a corporate team focused on developing and maintaining relationships with corporate customers and connected personal customers. You will be the primary contact for customers, handling a range of relationship issues and supporting the Relationship/Corporate Manager in achieving sales and income targets.
Job Description:
Sales and Relationship Management – 50%
- Maintain Relationship Plans for all customers in the assigned portfolio.
- Drive utilization of approved facilities for clients.
- Ensure ancillary business requirements are met as per facility terms.
- Resolve customer complaints and track utility payments.
- Serve as the principal point of contact for customers on relationship issues.
- Proactively manage customer service levels and satisfaction.
- Conduct research to identify potential new customers and maintain a database of prospects.
- Develop and maintain contacts within other branches and areas of the Group.
- Monitor leads and coordinate information for the Relationship Manager.
Portfolio Maintenance – 30%
- Liaise with customers, accountants, solicitors, and other relevant parties for risk management purposes.
- Collate and analyze customer financial information.
- Assist with the creation of Credit Applications.
- Prepare facility letters and coordinate execution and drawdown of facilities.
- Provide technical input and undertake research for the Relationship Manager.
- Attend and contribute to Relationship Team meetings.
- Ensure updated valuation reports and insurance for client facilities are in place.
- Follow up on the draw-down of loan facilities to ensure timely completion.
Risk, Governance & Control – 15%
- Ensure KYC and other control requirements are met within the customer portfolio.
- Review risk reports and provide feedback on required actions.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate Banking policies and procedures.
- Work with the KYC documentation team to ensure timely account openings.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and Absa Policies.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate relevant risks.
Contribution to the Team – 5%
- Deputize for the Relationship Manager as needed.
- Provide leave cover for the Relationship Manager and fellow Associate Relationship Manager.
Education & Experience:
- Higher Diplomas in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required)
- No prior experience required

As a Relationship Manager – Enterprise, you will manage and sustain a portfolio of enterprise customers, building long-term relationships through efficient and reliable business support. Your responsibilities will include business development, quick risk decisions, and ensuring operational service consistency and quality.
Job Description:
Sales and Customer Management (40%)
- Maintain Relationship Plans for all customers in the portfolio.
- Conduct annual and interim reviews of customer borrowing facilities.
- Determine key messages and the most appropriate communication methods.
- Resolve customer complaints and find solutions.
- Sell products effectively to meet customer needs.
- Research and follow up on a target list for potential new business.
Business Management (30%)
- Identify priority customers and assess their present and potential contribution.
- Gather required information for credit applications and work with RMA to construct them.
- Ensure portfolio control and quality using available triggers and adherence to guidelines.
Provision of Customer Service (15%)
- Resolve customer queries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Build relationships with internal service providers to ensure quick turnaround of queries and complaints.
- Direct customers to appropriate delivery channels.
People Management (5%)
- Maintain a succession plan for key roles.
- Coach and develop Corporate Managers’ Assistants.
Risk, Compliance & Controls (10%)
- Interface with the Risk & Compliance function to achieve desired results.
- Regularly update plans for reducing provisions/impairment.
- Ensure compliance and control in the distribution network.
