Project Background:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year initiative (2023-2028) led by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global ELC) with funding from USAID Feed the Future. This project is in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The goal of the activity is to enhance food and water security in the Kyoga Basin of northeastern Uganda, specifically targeting the Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere watersheds. The project seeks to improve livelihoods, nutrition, health, conflict resolution, and reduce reliance on humanitarian aid through various development objectives.
Job Overview:
The Project Driver will support the project teams by driving and maintaining assigned project vehicles, coordinating transportation schedules, and accessing frontline work locations. This role requires both paper and computer-based documentation and reports to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and maintain project vehicles.
- Coordinate transportation schedules for project activities.
- Navigate and travel to various work locations, including challenging terrains.
- Complete and manage logistical documentation both on paper and electronically.
- Maintain good working relationships with team members while ensuring confidentiality and discretion.
Job Requirements:
- Education: UCE Certificate (High School level)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of driving and logistics experience, preferably in a USAID or donor-funded project in Uganda.
- Skills:
- Valid public driver’s license (Class B or above) with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving in different regions of Uganda, especially in the specified areas.
- Willingness to travel frequently and drive in difficult terrains.
- Good geographic knowledge and sense of direction in the region.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Other: Ability to maintain confidentiality and good relationships with team members.
Work Hours: 8 hours per day
