About the Role:
As a Legal Assistant at Alight, you’ll be pivotal in supporting the daily operations of our legal program, including client management, dispute resolution, and legal awareness. You will work closely with the Legal Officer and contribute to meaningful solutions for displaced communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Interaction: Receive and register clients, conduct initial interviews, and summarize essential facts.
- Case Management: Locate witnesses, provide support for interviews, accompany clients to police, and keep clients updated on case progress.
- Legal Support: Offer basic legal and psychosocial counseling, conduct prison visits, and assist in developing legal information and education topics.
- Community Engagement: Participate in legal education, mobilize communities, and work with local leaders to raise awareness.
- Information Management: Organize case files, prepare court case materials, and generate reports.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Law and Certificate in Uganda Paralegal Advisory Services (PAS) training.
- Experience: At least 2 years in a similar role; experience in representing clients and engaging with key legal partners is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, motorcycle riding experience, and a valid riding permit.
