DFCU Bank is a rapidly growing commercial bank providing a variety of innovative products and services. It was founded by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC), initially named Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. The bank underwent restructuring to include DEG (Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each holding a 25% stake. The bank aims to support long-term development projects that require financing beyond the scope of traditional commercial lending institutions.

Job Summary:

As a Finance Business Partner, you will report to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. Your role will involve supporting value creation, defining standards, enforcing governance, conducting backtesting analysis, tracking financial performance, setting strategies, and analyzing data to assist in decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply a challenger mindset and problem-solving attitude to drive value creation within the function.
  • Conduct backtesting analysis regularly to evaluate value generation from completed project phases.
  • Champion standard-setting and governance processes to ensure team compliance.
  • Act as the financial management point of contact for all running projects within the domain.
  • Maintain accountability for Credit/TDO assets, including asset register maintenance, acquisition and disposal reconciliation, and state monitoring of running assets.
  • Lead and coordinate the function’s financial planning processes in alignment with the bank’s strategy and ambition.
  • Support optimization initiatives by ensuring financial transparency, accountability, and understanding the risks/opportunities and their impacts.
  • Perform insightful variance analysis and make recommendations for mitigating actions.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure completeness and accuracy in total bank reporting.
  • Support the preparation of functional reports in conjunction with finance business partners.
  • Provide finance-related support for the TDO/Credit domain.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification in finance such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA.
  • At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in financial services, management consulting, or value-for-money auditing/evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and understanding IT-related systems.
  • Self-driven and goal-oriented.
  • Great attention to detail and proactive attitude.
