Job Summary
The Uganda Revenue Authority is seeking 19 dedicated Finance Officers to join its team. The role involves providing technical services related to Financial Management and Accounting to ensure efficient utilization of URA resources and proper accountability for collected tax revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Monitoring and Reconciliation
- Monitor URA bank account transactions and prepare periodical reconciliation statements.
- Ensure payments are authorized and accurately reflected in records.
- Maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Revenue Reconciliation
- Reconcile revenue collections and transfers to the Central Bank.
- Verify accuracy of revenue returns from banks and URA reports.
- Address discrepancies and improve accounting data reliability.
- Educate stakeholders on URA accounting procedures.
- Revenue Collection and Reporting
- Analyze, code, and validate revenue from all URA departments.
- Post remittances and transfers accurately in the accounting system.
- Inspect URA stations and monitor finance performance.
- Supplier Control and Financial Reporting
- Apportion and monitor accounts for insurance, compensation, accommodation, and property rates.
- Maintain and reconcile supplier payments and petty cash accounts.
- Budget Management
- Prepare and consolidate budget proposals.
- Monitor budget implementation and performance.
- Enhance budget data quality for better decision-making.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field with a focus on Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a finance role within a large organization.
- Proven integrity and reliability.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with Accounting Packages and Software.
- Practical application of Financial/Accounting Systems.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the Accounting Manual, Public Finance and Accountability Act 2003, Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Act, and Tax Laws of Uganda and the region.
