Police in Pallisa Region in eastern Uganda are exploring conditions under which a child passed on one hour in the wake of being circumcised.
The occurrence occurred at Pallisa General hospital on Saturday. It’s noted that Eriasa clement Edwin, a four months old child, began bleeding following circumcision.
The Bukedi North Local Police Representative, ASP immaculate Alaso, affirmed the incident saying the medical specialist who performed the circumcision is on the run however endeavors are in progress to capture him.
She said Ms Betty Apolot and Mr Richard Opio gave their kid to the suspect to be circumcised when he was fine, as per police’s fundamental interrogations.
“On April 15, 2023 the mother of the deceased at around 10am came to Pallisa General hospital for safe male circumcision which was finished between 11am to midday. After he was released at around 1pm the deceased got a convulsion and was returned to theater where he was placed on oxygen. His circumstance deteriorated as he bled until he passed on at around 6pm on Saturday,” ASP Alaso said on Sunday.
“Police visited the scene and got statements from the guardians of the deceased and different eye witnesses. In any case, police are on ground to find out whether the suspect is a medical specialist qualified to carry out such an operation,” Ms Alaso said.
