How to Apply for the DAAD Leadership for Africa Master’s Scholarship Programme In Germany for Ugandans

  1. Check Eligibility Criteria: Before applying, ensure you meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the DAAD. There are two target groups for this scholarship:a) Highly qualified refugees: Holding refugee status in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, or Uganda, with a completed Bachelor’s degree at the time of application.b) Highly qualified graduates: Citizens of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, or Uganda, residing in one of these countries, with a completed Bachelor’s degree at the time of application.
  2. Select a Suitable Master’s Programme: Choose a Master’s programme in Germany that aligns with your academic and career goals. Remember, the scholarship covers all fields of study except for medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law, fine arts, and architecture.
  3. Prepare Required Documents: Gather all necessary documents, including academic transcripts, proof of refugee status (for refugee applicants), proof of citizenship and residency (for non-refugee applicants), language proficiency certificates (if available), curriculum vitae (CV), and letters of recommendation.
  4. Language Proficiency: If you’re not a native German speaker or haven’t studied in German before, you’ll need to demonstrate proficiency in the language. The scholarship includes a German language course of up to 6 months in Germany before the start of your university studies.
  5. Online Application: Visit the official website of the DAAD Leadership for Africa Master’s Scholarship Programme to access the online application portal. Complete all required fields accurately and upload the necessary documents.
  6. Submit Application Before Deadline: Ensure your application is submitted before the June 7th, 2024 deadline. Late applications will not be considered.
  7. Wait for Notification: After submitting your application, patiently await notification regarding the status of your application. If selected, you will be notified of the next steps in the process.
  8. Prepare for Interviews (if required): Depending on the selection process, you may be required to attend interviews or provide additional documentation. Prepare accordingly.
  9. Final Selection and Preparation: If you’re selected for the scholarship, you’ll receive detailed instructions on the next steps, including visa application procedures, travel arrangements, and any pre-departure requirements.
  10. Embark on Your Academic Journey: Once all preparations are complete, embark on your academic journey in Germany, where you’ll pursue your Master’s degree, participate in the complementary training programme in good governance, civil society, and career development, and contribute to the future development of your home country.
