INTERACT-Africa is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring scholars to embark on a transformative academic journey. Funded by the European Union, INTERACT-Africa is dedicated to fostering inclusive learning mobility and nurturing the next generation of green technology leaders.

About INTERACT-Africa

INTERACT-Africa is a pioneering Intra-Africa Academic mobility project with a focus on Chemistry, Biology, and Information Technology. The initiative aims to revolutionize the conversion of organic waste into valuable bioproducts, paving the way for environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economies. Through capacity building, entrepreneurship support, and fostering innovation, INTERACT-Africa seeks to empower African scholars to spearhead impactful change in their communities.

Scholarship Period

We are pleased to offer 28 prestigious scholarships for postgraduate studies, comprising 5 scholarships for PhD candidates and 23 for Master’s programs. The duration of the scholarship is up to 36 months for PhD students and up to 24 months for Master’s students.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the INTERACT-Africa scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Meet the minimum requirements for admission into Master’s or PhD programs at the host University.
  • Be a national and resident of an eligible African country.
  • Submit a research concept paper in the intended area of study.
  • Obtain an admission letter from the host university.
  • Commit not to benefit from another EU-funded scholarship scheme during the mobility period.
  • Provide recommendation/reference letters and a motivation letter reflecting innovative technologies in climate change and mitigation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English or French, depending on the language of instruction at the host institution.

Funding

Selected scholars will receive comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Tuition fees and research costs.
  • Health and accident insurance.
  • Monthly stipend/allowance of Euro 1,230 for PhD students and Euro 890 for Master’s students.
  • Travel costs, visa expenses, and settling allowance.

Language of Instruction

The language of instruction varies depending on the host institution/country, with English and French options available.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should fill out the online scholarship application form available at the link. Additionally, applicants are advised to apply concurrently to the host University for admission. The scholarships will only be awarded to candidates with admission letters from the host university.
