Job Summary: International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking four (4) Coordinators, Community Engagement to support the design and delivery of IJM Uganda’s community engagement strategy. This role includes engaging with local communities, political leaders, government officials, survivor leaders, and religious and traditional leaders to mobilize them to end domestic violence and sexual violence against children in Uganda.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formation and enhancement of local survivor networks.
  • Maintain relationships with government and non-government actors.
  • Implement community engagement activities with religious and traditional leaders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address harmful practices perpetuating violence against women and children.
  • Review curriculum for training Local Council Courts and coordinate the training.
  • Design a mentorship strategy for local leaders.
  • Conduct community dialogues, radio activities, and awareness-raising interventions.
  • Form and maintain survivor groups, and empower survivor leaders.
  • Support Regional and Senior Managers in building and maintaining key relationships.
  • Develop referral networks and linkages with stakeholders.
  • Strengthen IJM’s network with church and faith-based groups.
  • Coordinate linkages between informal and formal justice system actors.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are upheld across community engagements.
  • Document best practices and develop effective communication materials.
  • Coordinate media engagements for survivor activities and local leaders.
  • Design and implement training tools for responding to violence against women and children.
  • Participate in research, monitoring, and evaluation related to survivor networks and community engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date statistics on cases and ensure proper documentation of activities.
  • Ensure adherence to workplans, budgets, and program commitments.
  • Develop concepts, workplans, and budgets for community engagement activities.
  • Comply with IJM core commitments, values, and safeguarding code of conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, community development, community psychology, or related fields. Additional qualifications in project management are a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in community and behavioral change work, particularly with survivors’ groups and cultural and religious leaders.
  • Experience in engaging with justice service providers and safeguarding programs is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license and fluency in English (written and spoken) are mandatory. Knowledge of local languages is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong skills in community mobilization, networking, local advocacy, and project management.
