About the EYDCD Program:
The Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing the “Empower Youth through Data and Community Development (EYDCD) program.” This initiative aims to improve the lives of young men and women in disadvantaged communities in Uganda by providing technical market-facing skills and capacity building for entrepreneurship and employment. The program will establish Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs) backed by enterprises, leveraging digitization for efficiency and added services. CRVPF will partner with 200 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to reach 200,000 youths aged 15-35 years in Refugee Settlements, Host Communities, and Slums.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the establishment and operation of VSLAs in target communities.
- Provide technical support and quality assurance for vocational skills development programs by CBOs.
- Integrate VSLA Digital Financial Literacy Training into broader project plans.
- Train and sensitize CBOs on incorporating digital wallets into VSLA activities.
- Maintain expertise in digital technology and provide support to CBOs.
- Develop materials and tools for capacity-building of VSLA groups in digital transformation.
- Oversee localization of mobile wallets, initial user testing, and feedback sessions.
- Collaborate with gnuGrid CRB staff to resolve digital platform issues.
- Conduct field visits to gather data, provide support, and evaluate digitalization effectiveness.
- Participate in project team review meetings and contribute to continual improvement of user experience.
- Review reports from CBOs on VSLA activities.
- Represent the EYDCD program at partner events and meetings.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microfinance, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Experience with community-based financial structures like VSLAs, SACCOs, Cooperatives, and microfinance institutions.
- Familiarity with technology relevant to these institutions’ operations.
- Curriculum development and dissemination experience for VSLA, SACCOs, etc.
- Youth engagement and economic empowerment familiarity.
- Monitoring and evaluation of VSLAs and SACCOs.
- Stakeholder engagement experience.
- Previous work with community organizations.
Skills and Attributes:

- Proficiency in basic accounting principles and financial management practices.

- Maintain accurate and timely EYDCD program financial documentation.
- Report on contract commitments, disbursements, and cash flow projections.
- Maintain proper filing systems for partner reports, grant agreements, and communication.
- Conduct budget checks during application reviews.
- Monitor EYDCD budget at program and partner levels.
- Review and amend budgets during partner project implementation.
- Ensure EYDCD financials comply with partner requirements and international standards.
- Provide input into CRVPF finance planning processes.
- Assist in sourcing external support for the EYDCD program including consultancies.
- Guide partners through financial due diligence and field monitoring.
- Review partner EYDCD finance reports and ensure alignment with source documents.
- Prepare funds requests and quarterly reports for donors.
- Provide financial management guidance to EYDCD partners.
- Advise the program team on financial matters and support learning and evaluation activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICA, CMA, or similar.
- Minimum 3 years in financial roles within a nonprofit.
- Experience in budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Previous work with microfinance and youth inclusion programs.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of Financial Internal Controls Management.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, proactive, empathetic, disciplined, agile.
