Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals) Phiona Nyamutoro’s father has shocked netizens with revelations that musician Eddy Kenzo is her first boyfriend.
Nyamutoro’s father, Patrick Apecu, made the revelations while appearing on Bukedde TV. Mr. Apecu’s revelations come just a few days after Edirisa Musuza visited his Bunga residence for a kukyala ceremony.
In the interview, he confirmed that this was the first time the vibrant minister introduced a suitor to her family.
“Phiona [Nyamutoro] had never introduced anybody else to me as a boyfriend. The day she told me that she has a boyfriend, I knew she was serious.” Patrick Apecu said.
He also expressed his full support for the budding couple, giving a green light to their relationship.
During the interview, Mr. Apecu confirmed that his daughter had been dating the BET winner for four years. This waters down speculations that linked the Sitya Loss hitmaker to a number of female artists.
“She [Nyamutoro] kept her relationship private from me and her family. We only got to know about this last year, yet they had been dating for years.” Patrick Apecu said.
He was also full of praise for his daughter’s brilliance and innovativeness. According to him, these qualities are what make her a standout politician and an even better person. Nyamutoro has quickly risen through the political ranks over a short period of time. Her rise from a student leader at Makerere University to a minister in a period of six years has left her with admirers.
Over the past couple of years, it has been an open secret in Kampala that Minister Nyamutoro and Kenzo were dating. However, over the last weekend, the two took a step towards officiating their relationship with a lavish kukyala ceremony in Buziga, a Kampala suburb.
The ceremony was invite-only and was restricted to family and close friends. Following the kukyala ceremony, Eddy Kenzo announced plans for a mega introduction ceremony. This will take place in Nyamutoro’s country home in Nebbi District.
